In apartment blocks, the right grant depends primarily on the type of project and the charging method required.

Qualify the project before seeking funding

A co-owner equipping their own space for personal use is not in the same situation as a building preparing collective infrastructure. The number of spaces, available power, connection type, and cost-sharing methods all change the setup to be studied.

  • Individual charging point: a charger primarily supplies a resident's space, with individualised funding and usage.
  • Shared charging point: a charger can serve multiple users and requires rules for access, metering, and cost distribution.
  • Collective infrastructure: the car park is prepared for multiple connections, even if not all spaces are equipped on the same day.

What the ADVENIR scale provides for 2026

For collective residential buildings, the ADVENIR programme has announced a new scale for applications from 1 April 2026. Individual charging points are subsidised at 50%, up to a limit of €1,000 excl. VAT. Shared charging points are subsidised at 50%, up to a limit of €1,660 excl. VAT.

For collective infrastructure, the announced grant is 50%, with a ceiling of €12,500 excl. VAT for up to 100 spaces. Roadworks and outdoor cable routing solutions have an additional announced ceiling of €8,000 excl. VAT for up to 100 outdoor spaces. These amounts are ceilings: eligibility, eligible expenses, and the reference date depend on the actual file.

The date to check varies depending on the scheme. For collective infrastructure, ADVENIR notably uses the date of the vote at the general meeting; for individual and shared points, the date the file is signed may determine the applicable scale. Consult the ADVENIR scale published for 2026 before assuming an amount is guaranteed.

Presenting the project to the managing agent and the general meeting

A resident's request, the installation of a charger in a private space, and the creation of collective infrastructure do not fall under the same resolution. The file must specify who is carrying out the work, which common areas are affected, who pays for the energy, and how future users will be managed.

The Service-Public website distinguishes between the decision to equip private spaces, which requires a simple majority in the case described, and the modification of electrical installations to allow individual metering, which may require an absolute majority. The managing agent must confirm the appropriate resolution for the building's configuration.

Comparing the grant and the remaining budget

A grant does not automatically cover all project costs. Before comparing two quotes, ask for the breakdown corresponding to the charger, protections, cabling, connection, collective infrastructure, outdoor works, testing, and maintenance. Also check the share remaining for the co-owner and any recurring fees.

Top Tip
A grant amount announced in a simulation is not guaranteed funding. The quote, the beneficiary, the schedule, and the documents submitted must match the chosen scheme.

Preparing a complete file

To avoid delays, gather the following before applying:

  • a description of the car park, the number of spaces, and the users involved;
  • the planned connection diagram and routing constraints;
  • a detailed quote from an IRVE-qualified installer;
  • the decision or minutes of the general meeting where the setup requires it;
  • the planned breakdown between infrastructure, charger, energy, supervision, and maintenance;
  • the dates of the quote, signature, application, and start of work.
Also clarify who is submitting the application and who will keep the invoices, photos, certificates, and completion documents. This organisation is particularly important when the managing agent, an operator, and several co-owners are involved in the same project.

Good funding starts with a clear project

To fund a charger in an apartment block, start by qualifying the usage and the level of infrastructure needed. Only then compare ADVENIR, any local grants, and the remaining balance. Scales change: always check the official page and have the applicable amount confirmed before signing or starting work.
